G.R.E.S. Unidos do Berimbau, also known as Banda Berimbau, is a group of Brazilian percussions composed of musicians coming from various Italian regions and some foreign country too. Formed in the year 2000, the group is based in the city of Trieste (north-east of Italy) and often cooperates with Brazilian singers and dancers for its concerts.
It's one of the most active and most important groups in Italy for this kind of music, with hundreds of live shows of any kind: from concerts to street parades, including the classical Carnival parade.
During the shows, Banda Berimbau plays various rhythms of afro-brazilian origins, from the typical samba enredo of Rio de Janeiro to the evocative rhytms of the blocos afro de Bahia and the Nordeste (samba-reggae, maracatù, ijexà, funky).
